Join Mercantile Bank as a Full Time Float Teller based out of our Lowell, MI branch. This onsite role provides coverage to the Lowell, Ionia, and Belding markets and offers a dynamic, collaborative workspace with opportunities for professional growth and community impact.
Responsibilities
- Perform teller transactions (deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, check cashing) efficiently and courteously while adhering to bank policies and procedures.
- Maintain and balance a cash drawer daily.
- Promote and enhance customer relations by projecting a positive image and providing quality service.
- Initiate sales, pursue cross-sell opportunities, and ensure proper servicing and referrals using Mercantile’s Customer Relationship Management System (360 View).
- Answer telephones and direct customer inquiries to appropriate bank personnel.
- Foster strong customer relationships, assist with inquiries, promote self-service options, and encourage appointment setting for specialized needs.
- Collaborate in a team environment to contribute to branch goals and enhance customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Cash handling experience with accuracy, including counting cash back to customers.
- Proficiency in typing and data entry with accuracy via computer systems.
- Needs-based selling skills and attention to detail.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to travel to branches within the central market (Lowell, Ionia, Belding).
- High school education or GED, or equivalent job-related education/experience.

Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. This position requires travel to support other branches in the area.
