What You'll Do
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, monitoring their needs and addressing any issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean, healthy, and safe environment for children, sharing responsibilities for maintaining a tidy classroom and facilities.
- Plan engaging activities that cater to the needs of assigned classes, working collaboratively with team teachers as needed.
- Implement daily programs and activities with the assistance of team teachers or aides, as required.
- Create an inviting atmosphere for children and families through creative displays and artwork.
- Model positive behavior and manners, encouraging children to develop good conversation skills and respect for others.
- Conduct regular conferences with parents to discuss their child's progress and address any concerns.
- Stay up-to-date with continuing education requirements, attending workshops and sharing knowledge with colleagues.
- Monitor children's development, setting individualized goals and maintaining comprehensive portfolios for parents.
- Communicate effectively with parents through monthly newsletters and timely updates.
- Document incidents and accidents, maintaining accurate records and reporting to authorities as necessary.
- Attend staff meetings and family events, fostering collaboration and community spirit.
- Mentor and train new staff members, promoting a positive and supportive work environment.
- Keep the Director informed about program needs and report any special requirements or issues.
- Uphold confidentiality standards and report any cases of suspected child abuse or neglect.
- Handle discipline fairly and consistently, following established center policies.
- Perform various administrative tasks, including purchasing supplies and handling reimbursements.
- Be prepared to take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director.
- Your initial Registry certificate, CPR, and other trainings will be covered by the employer unless you leave employment within two years.
Requirements
- Ability to lift 40 lb. water jugs and children 20-30 pounds on a regular basis
- 80 days/120 half-days experience in licensed child care program; teaching license or necessary courses; Registry Certificate
- Be familiar with and follow all Koala-T-Kare policies and NAC standards; read the licensing requirements of State
