About the role
The Float Pool RN Procedures is an experienced clinical nurse hired into the float pool to work within a defined cluster to include both Palomar Medical Center and Pomerado Hospital Interventional Radiology departments.
Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients within an assigned unit and manage and supervise related clinical activities.
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for a broad range of patients including minor illnesses and injuries through the acutely ill and injured.
- Carefully coordinate the plan of care with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team.
- Supervise and direct the activities of various levels of assigned nursing and ancillary personnel, using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.
- Adhere to the California Nurse Practice Act, The American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, the ANA Bill of Rights for Registered Nurses and the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice for Nursing.
- Function independently within the priority matrix and establish a self-directed workload.
- Use critical thinking and assessment skills to serve as a resource to colleagues and assist with emergency/urgent patient care needs throughout Palomar Health.
- Observe and direct patient lifts and mobilization and participate as needed in patient handling.
- Be available for on-call support to meet the Interventional Radiology needs at both Palomar Medical Center and the Pomerado Hospital campuses.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: As required by certification and/or licensure
- Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Minimum Experience: 3 years Interventional Radiology experience
- Preferred Experience: 5+ years Interventional Radiology experience
- Required Certification: American Heart Association recognized Advanced Cardiac Life Support American Heart Association recognized BLS - Healthcare Provider
Qualifications
- Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail).
- Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job.
