Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant provides front and back office duties to various pulmonary providers in an outpatient setting. This is a traveling position; reliable transportation and willingness to travel to all locations are required. Locations include Mercy Downtown, Overlea, Lutherville, Reisterstown, Glen Burnie, and Ellicott City. Must have Monday and Tuesday availability.

  • Front Office Duties
    • Greet patients in a courteous and friendly manner, providing a welcoming atmosphere.
    • Schedule and confirm patient appointments and procedures.
    • Verify patient insurance information and collect co-pays or fees as needed.
    • Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information to patients and other callers.
    • Complete patient check-in and check-out processes.
  • Back Office Duties
    • Take patient vital signs, record medical histories, and update electronic health records (EHR).
    • Provide patient education and instructions as directed by healthcare providers.

Requirements

Education and Work Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of one year of experience, preferably in a medical office setting.

  • License Requirements: N/A
  • Certification Requirements: CPR preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
    • Microsoft Outlook.
    • Meditech (if applicable to position).
    • Epic (if applicable to position).
    • Performance Manager/NetLearning.
    • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude.
    • Must be able to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner.
    • Must be able to work independently and make decisions when circumstances warrant.
    • Must possess effective communication skills and deal tactfully with personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, and the public.
    • Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and function effectively as part of a team.
    • Must follow written and oral instructions.
  • Required to travel to satellite offices.

Pay

Minimum USD $18.66/Hr. Maximum USD $30.79/Hr.
