About the role

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. The goal is to build sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

Responsibilities

  • Work with various subsystem stakeholders to produce and manage software engineers within Lunar Permanence.
  • Ensure mission success of the lunar vehicles’ safety-critical, performant flight software.
  • Engage with the leads and engineers of different subsystems, including both software and hardware.
  • Guide the software team’s technical decisions using stakeholder input and provide rationale.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide feedback to developers reporting directly to you.
  • Collaborate with NASA and National Team Partners as part of the HLS SLD program.
  • Develop the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond Earth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, aeronautics, or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree or a PhD degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working in spaceflight or other safety-critical industries.
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded systems software engineering.
  • Proficiency in Jama or a similar requirements management tool.
  • Experience with Jira or a similar activity management tool.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Able to earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships.

Qualifications

  • Passion for Blue Origin’s mission and vision.
  • MUST be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Skills

  • Experience with NPR 7150, DO-178, or other similar standards.
  • Experience with the agile methodology.
  • Experience with C, C++, or Rust.
  • Experience with orbital vehicles or in-space systems.

  • Base Pay Range: $148,103.00 - $207,343.50 for CO applicants, $161,567.00 - $226,193.10 for WA applicants.
  • Other site ranges may differ.

Pay

Base Pay Range: $148,103.00 - $207,343.50 for CO applicants, $161,567.00 - $226,193.10 for WA applicants.
