Flight Line Specialist I & II

About the Role

Under general supervision, performs all flight line services to aircraft owners and operators. Welcomes customers to the airport/FBO and City, performs various aircraft service operations, including marshaling, parking, fueling, towing, crew and passenger assistance, flight line equipment and fuel truck maintenance, and minor repair functions. Also handles rental car positioning and inspection.

Responsibilities

• Work on a shift schedule, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and before/after-hours work.
• Safely service and fuel all types of aircraft and airport equipment.
• Marshal aircraft on arrivals and departures; greet pilots and passengers, assist with luggage, and remove trash from aircraft.
• Tow aircraft to and from hangars.
• Perform minor maintenance on airport equipment.
• Conduct custodial duties in the terminal and corporate hangars.
• Unload fuel transport trucks and record fuel distribution.
• Load aircraft fueling trucks and record fuel distribution.
• Inspect fuel for clarity and contaminants; report issues immediately.
• Monitor ramp area for customer security and perform daily runway inspections.
• Obtain and record differential pressure readings daily.
• Run Millipore and Aqua Glow tests monthly; dip tanks and log results.
• Perform FOD walks to keep the aircraft ramp area clear of debris.
• Comply with all written City policies and procedures.
• Adhere to assigned work schedule as outlined in City and department attendance policies.
• Inspect, drive, and operate fuel trucks in close proximity to aircraft.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalency.
• Two years of experience in a similar position or two years of in-house training.
• Ability to qualify for safe handling of fuel products, knowledge of general aviation and corporate aircraft, and towing all types of aircraft.
• Must be able to work a shift schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Skills

• Knowledge of Fixed Based Operation (FBO) and airport rules and regulations.
• Familiarity with on-airport vehicular operations.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and treat co-workers, subordinates, and customers with respect.
• Flexibility and adaptability during times of change.

Conditions of Employment

• Must pass a drug screen, driving record, and background check.
• Must have a Class C Texas Driver’s License.
• Must pass a TSA-mandated 10-year Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) and Security Threat Assessment (STA).

Physical Demands

Tasks involve communication with the public and co-workers in person and by telephone. Physical activities include sitting, reaching, standing, walking several miles per day, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling moderately heavy objects (20-50 pounds), occasionally up to 100 pounds.

Work Environment

Exposure to propeller and jet aircraft operations, Jet-A, Avgas, and diesel fuels. Limited exposure to environmental conditions, with potential exposure to strong odors, smoke, traffic hazards, and extreme heat/cold or weather conditions. Work environment where errors can lead to significant physical or mental consequences for self or others.

Pay

Flight Line Specialist I (#9539): $42,068.15 - $61,002.24/Annually ($20.22 - $29.32/Hourly)

Flight Line Specialist II (#9992): $44,804.88 - $64,964.24/Annually ($21.53 - $31.23/Hourly)
