The Charter School for Applied Technologies prepares students to attain family-sustaining careers by integrating career exploration and a lifelong learning culture. CSAT opened in 2001 as a 700-student K–6 school and now serves approximately 2,300 students across three buildings (Elementary, Middle, and High School) from 19 school districts in Western New York.

About the role

The CSAT teacher communicates knowledge in an interesting, stimulating, and effective manner using varied instructional methodologies and curriculum resources. Teachers work as team members, sharing common planning, professional development, curriculum design, and teaching responsibilities. They administer student assessments, communicate with parents and colleagues about student progress, and plan further instruction. Teachers reflect on their practice and act as coaches for teammates when needed, integrating technology into instruction and professional activities.

Responsibilities

  • Implement school and district policies and procedures
  • Implement CSAT school performance standards
  • Collaborate with team on curriculum and student needs
  • Create and maintain ongoing communication with parents
  • Participate in curriculum development and implementation
  • Integrate technology into the instructional program and demonstrate professional use
  • Act as a coach/mentor to other teachers on the team in areas of personal expertise
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse student populations
  • Establish, nurture, and manage student-directed classrooms with independent and group work
  • Develop and use rubrics for evaluating products and performances
  • Use technology tools for instruction, planning, and communication
  • Learn new uses and applications of technology tools
  • Create and manage a responsive learning environment that enables students to feel safe, creative, and able to develop to their full potential
  • Write, implement, and evaluate professional development plans
  • Develop family–school relationships that foster academic and social development

Qualifications

  • Completed bachelor’s degree in Education and all required student teaching experiences
  • At least two years of classroom experience with a satisfactory rating
  • Three positive recommendations from professional individuals
  • Strong background in classroom instruction and pedagogical skills
  • Highly organized and independent worker with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Professional Learning Communities (PLC) model experience
  • Superior ability to work with others and function as a team player

Pay

Salary range: $43,000 – $55,000

Schedule

Full-time, 10-month exempt position beginning ASAP.
