Position Summary
The Rehabilitation Services Staff Speech-Language Pathologist provides evaluation and treatment of hospital patients in a range of specialty programs.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Demonstrates competency with individualized assessment of patients using a wide variety of assessment measures and procedures.
- Formulates individualized, age specific, therapy goals based upon assessment results and patient needs.
- Implements patient care in a manner consistent with the therapy goals and the changing needs of the patient using a variety of therapeutic approaches.
- Orients patients and families to the therapeutic purposes and procedures of Speech-Language Pathology, and educates them about home programs, impairments and progress.
- Provides for own professional growth and education and contributes to staff development activities.
- Stays up to date on all participating insurance guidelines for rehabilitation services.
- Provides thorough documentation on each patient interaction. Documentation must be timely and include all pertinent information required by state law, accrediting agencies and 3rd party payers.
- Completes daily charges for each patient while adhering to ethical practices per insurance guidelines for each payer.
- Works with site leader, director and/or secretarial staff to ensure schedules are managed well to achieve targeted productivity and clinic budget.

Required Education, Experience and Certification/Licensure
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
- Licensed in the State of Michigan
