About the role

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The Registered Nurse directs and coordinates all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards and collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.

This is a part-time, 24-hour position (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM). Flex nurses will generally work 24 hours per week, but based on the hospital's patient care requirements, hours may flex up to 12 additional hours or down by 12 hours within a week. Call is required for this position. Flex nurses in a 24-hour position receive health and dental benefits consistent with those provided to regularly scheduled 30-hour nurses.

This position is part of the Massachusetts Nurses Association Bargaining Unit at Cooley Dickinson Hospital and reports to the Nurse Manager/Director.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Direct and coordinate all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards.
  • Collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and desired patient outcomes.
  • Work in various departments, including Medical/Surgical Units, Emergency Department, Critical Care, Telemetry, Psychiatric Unit, Inpatient Surgical Center, and Childbirth Center.
  • Must be able and willing to work in all departments as needed and directed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred (experience cannot substitute for this requirement).
  • Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • AHA BLS certification required.
  • AHA ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire or transfer into position.
  • De-escalation training required within 60 days of hire or transfer into position.
  • One (1) year of medical/surgical nursing experience required.

Pay

Pay range: $42.19 - $72.88/hour (Grade RN4N33). At Mass General Brigham, base pay is determined by skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, and other essential factors. The provided range is an estimate based on minimum job qualifications and does not encompass all elements of total compensation.

Schedule

  • Part-time, 24 hours per week.
  • Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM).
  • Flexible hours: May require adjusting hours up to 12 additional hours or down by 12 hours within a week based on patient care needs.
  • Call required.
