Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee fleet technicians in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles and equipment.
- Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure a skilled and efficient team.
- Enforce safety protocols and maintain a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance tasks comply with OEM specifications and DOT safety regulations.
- Maintain accuracy of service records and documentation for compliance audits.
- Schedule and prioritize repairs to minimize downtime and maximize fleet availability.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with vendors for parts and supplies.
- Implement process improvements to enhance service efficiency and reduce costs.
- Work closely with drivers, operations teams, and management to address maintenance needs.
- Provide reports on fleet performance, maintenance trends, and cost analysis.
- Foster teamwork and effective communication within the garage.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and provide technical support to technicians.
- Address unexpected breakdowns promptly to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
- Make data-driven decisions to improve fleet maintenance strategies.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of mechanical processes.
- Knowledge of standard computer software applications.
- Mechanical experience.
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Possess a CDL license.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors
- Able to move freely throughout the garage facility to include climbing vertical heights (0 - 50') carrying tools and equipment (0-100 pounds).
- Exposure to extreme temperatures (0-100 Degrees Fahrenheit and humidity (0 - 100%), noise (50db to 100db), and chemicals (MSDS sheets available).
