Essential Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair gas and diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment, including hydraulic systems, brakes (air and hydraulic), suspension, transmission, steering, fuel and electrical systems
- Perform routine preventive maintenance such as oil changes, fluid checks, lubrication, and safety inspections
- Congduct field repairs and respond to equipment breakdowns during inclement weather or emergencies
- Install and service auxiliary systems such as radios, strobes, plows, and other accessories
- Use hand tools, pneumatic and power tools, diagnostic software, jacks, cranes, and other shop equipment
- Operate trucks and heavy equipment to test and confirm repairs
Required Qualifications
- A High School diploma plus technical training and at least 2 years of experience with heavy truck/equipment repair and diagnostics
- A valid MA CDL Class B and Hoisting License
- Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and the ability to interpret technical manuals
- A thorough understanding of truck and equipment systems, including air brakes, electrical components, and hydraulic mechanisms
- Sound judgment in assessing mechanical issues, developing effective solutions, and prioritizing repairs efficiently
- A commitment to safety, dependability, and consistently high-quality work
Work Environment
Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy parts are essential. Work is primarily in a garage setting with some fieldwork.
