About the role
The Highlands Ranch Metro District is seeking a skilled and motivated Fleet Technician to join our Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Department. This role involves maintaining and repairing a variety of vehicles and equipment, contributing to custom fabrication projects, and assisting with vehicle/equipment recoveries.
Responsibilities
- Complies with safety policies and procedures to ensure safety.
- Provides quality customer service to staff, contractors, community members, and organizations.
- Takes direction from supervisors to prioritize daily work.
- Maintains professional relationships with employees, vendors, and the public.
- Maintains inventory and assists with repairs and recovery of vehicles and equipment.
- Performs up-fitting of vehicles and equipment to meet user needs, adhering to NHTSA and NTEA standards.
- Assists with welding, fabrication, and repair projects using various metals.
- Tracks work orders using web-based software.
- Assists with shop and on-site welding, fabrication, and repair projects.
- Performs administrative duties as assigned.
- Mentors and trains other Fleet employees.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, with specific education in automotive technology.
- Some automotive/fleet maintenance experience.
- Valid Colorado State driver's license and required to obtain a Class ‘B’ CDL license after employment.
- Successfully obtain ASE certification in breaks within 12 months of hire.
- CPR and 1st Aid certification within 12 months of hire.
Skills
- Skilled in the operation of listed tools and equipment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and email communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and desire to learn.
- Physically able to move about on work sites and under adverse field conditions.
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours.
