About the Role

The Fleet Support Technician is responsible for the general organization of the shop to ensure the safe and smooth operation of the fleet operations and related off-site locations. This person will work closely with the shop foreman/superintendent to facilitate the management of all aspects of the shop area, including occupational and environmental health and safety, maintenance, and possible minor repair of vehicles as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Organize the shop, including general maintenance and shop clean-up.
  • Coordinate ordering, pickup, and distribution of parts for fleet.
  • Lubricate and clean fleet equipment, apply decals, license plates, and registration.
  • Safely transport fleet equipment across jobsites, yards, and internal shop locations; travel if needed.
  • Code and submit all invoices with receipts to accounting.
  • Load and unload material on/off delivery trucks or company vehicles.
  • Clean and organize shop work area: sweep and clean work surfaces, store parts, empty and discard garbage.
  • Keep all hazardous waste materials organized and clean.
  • Operate power-driven equipment such as leaf blowers, weed trimmers, and forklifts to maintain the yard.
  • Perform minor repairs on equipment as directed.
  • Comply with company and federal safety rules, policies, and procedures, including wearing required safety equipment, PPE, responding to safety concerns, and taking appropriate action.
  • Handle hazardous materials as required.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by your supervisor.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the safe and proper use of equipment and tools.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to maintain a clean, organized, and clutter-free shop.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule with minimal direction.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Valid Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record and no driving restrictions (Class A preferred).

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required).
  • Certified to operate a forklift and front-end loader (preferred).
  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy/highway construction, inventory skills, and mechanical inclination (preferred).

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Often required to stand and walk for prolonged periods; reach with hands and arms; bend or twist.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle and travel to various locations.
  • Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.

Pay

$23.00 - $26.00 per hour. This pay range is competitive compensation at the time of this job posting. Your pay will be determined based on experience, education, skills, and applicable knowledge.
