This role involves performing skilled repair work on a wide variety of diesel and gasoline-powered automotive, stationary engine/power generation, and earth-moving construction equipment.
Responsibilities
- Performs visual and mechanical tests of vehicles or equipment to determine the nature and extent of repairs needed, including the use of electronic diagnostic equipment.
- Assists in training personnel in standard job methods and procedures, proper use of tools and equipment, and safe working practices.
- Performs preventative maintenance and inspections on construction equipment, generators, trucks, trailers, and small equipment.
- Performs general repairs identified during preventative maintenance inspections.
- Conducts DOT inspections in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations.
- Adjusts, aligns, or replaces chassis parts, such as steering assemblies, brakes, wheels, and axles.
- Maintains and repairs stationary engine and power generation equipment.
- Maintains tools and equipment in proper condition by cleaning, sharpening, and oiling; keeps work area neat and orderly.
- Performs related work as required and must be able to perform safety-sensitive functions.
