Fleet Reactor Services Project Manager- Vogtle

About the role

Based at Vogtle initially with potential relocation to other sites in the future. Up to 60% travel required. Reports to the Fleet Reactor Services Manager. Corporate / Fleet Support position responsible for successful execution of refueling outage activities assigned to reactor services.

Responsibilities

• Support refuel team scope, SG sludge lance, SG eddy current testing, RCP PMs at Farley and Vogtle 1&2, RCP seal replacements at Farley and Vogtle 1&2, RCP pump/motor replacement at Farley and Vogtle 1&2, under-vessel at Hatch, and other scope assigned to reactor services
• Support online work including dry cask campaign, new fuel receipt oversight, filling in for site supervisor/PM during absences, attending outage-related meetings, driving excellence in outage preparations
• Provide oversight of craft Reactor Technicians and vendor personnel
• Shadow and learn roles of site supervisors/PMs to enable seamless work execution when filling in
• Maintain oversight to ensure adherence to standards for lifting and rigging activities requiring Advanced or Master Rigger qualification
• Leadership responsibilities include:
  • Refueling: Reactor Vessel Disassembly/Reassembly, Fuel Movement, Fuel Inspections, equipment and tooling checkouts (LHTs, FHM, RFM, transfer system), equipment setup in SFP and containment buildings
  • Steam Generator: Sludge Lance setup and execution, Eddy current setup and execution
  • Reactor Coolant Pumps (Farley and Vogtle 1&2): PMs, Seal replacement, Pump replacement, Motor replacement
  • Under-Vessel (Hatch only): Setup and execution
• Drive outage tooling and equipment readiness initiatives
• Vendor preparation and readiness oversight
• Represent RXS in outage-related meetings
• Setup and lead team meetings (refuel, SG, RCP, etc.) to drive readiness
• Active leadership in the field during execution of assigned work scope
• Capture lessons learned and drive improvements in fleet/site processes
• Develop schedules and durations for RXS scope of work
• Participate in WAR rooms for RXS emergent issues

Requirements

• Currently have or can obtain and maintain UAA
• 5 years of commercial nuclear plant experience required
• Technical and Project Management background in Nuclear Power preferred
• Previous experience supervising union craft personnel in a commercial plant preferred
• Provide direct supervision of Reactor Services Technicians (must maintain an SNC First Line Supervisor qualification)
• Provide oversight of alliance partner workers and supervisors during reactor, steam generator, and reactor coolant pump work activities
• Willing to be based at any of the SNC sites based on organizational needs and travel as directed
• Previous experience providing oversight of contract personnel preferred
• Experience with Refueling, SG Primary/Secondary inspections, RCP PMs/replacements, and Under-Vessel scope preferred (experience in one area required)
• Advanced Master Rigger qualified or ability to obtain qualification
• SNC OJT/TPE qualified or ability to obtain qualification
• Ability to travel up to 60% and support up to 3-5 planned outages per year
• Ability to work all shifts including night shift to support RXS scope of work
• Ability to qualify and wear respiratory equipment including PAPRs
• Available to work callout

Major Job Responsibilities

• Accountable for planning, execution, and oversight for RXS outage scope (70%):
• Serve as an experienced and knowledgeable RXS PM
• Keep the fleet and site reactor services manager informed of emerging issues and path to resolution
• Ensure lessons learned are captured and incorporated into site procedures, work orders, contingency plans, etc.
• Serve on applicable High Impact Teams (HIT Teams) as RXS representative
• Monitor outage performance and provide coaching as needed
• Support site RXS team with procedure revisions, WO prep, tooling checks, parts availability, and other scope needed to support a successful outage
• Ensure RXS is meeting the outage milestones and update manager on negative trends and actions to recover
• Report status monthly at minimum
• Develop outage related administrative tools that all sites can utilize for efficiency
• Coordinate with site personnel for any support task needed for outage scope (Temporary power, scaffold builds, welding, RP, Operations, etc.)
• Support T-8, T-3, T+1, RXS summit, etc. as directed by manager
• Manages resource needs in response to site operational needs (5%):
• Serve as an experienced leader with knowledge of company and industry experts available to resolve issues at the sites
• Leverage fleet peers and organizational resources to assist in issue resolution
• Benchmark for industry best practices and incorporate into processes
• Attend industry conferences to ensure the latest OE is being shared and utilized
• Communication to key stakeholders in the corporation (5%):
• Effectively communicate technical, financial, and work progress status to all levels of corporate and site management
• Provide communication with site management and fleet peers
• Reactor Services Administration (20%):
• Ensure standardization of processes based on industry best practices obtained through benchmarking
• Conduct program self-assessments, observations, and evaluates plant activities
• Influence and facilitate positive outcomes with relative stakeholder peer teams (Operations, Maintenance, Work Management), as well as other internal and external working groups
• Serve as subject matter expert, mentoring others for knowledge transfer, and formulating/facilitating the development of standards and procedures for the SNC fleet
• Submit Refuel, SG, RCP playbooks improvements to manager
• Support IRT and other groups as needed by manager
