Fleet Mechanic II

About the role

Responsible for the repair, maintenance, installation, and overhaul of all PVSC vehicles and associated equipment.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and related equipment.
• Perform auto body maintenance and follow garage practices.
• Read, understand, and use automotive repair manuals and pneumatic/hydraulic schematics.
• Adhere to safety precautions during mechanical and auto body repair tasks.
• Respond to emergencies and job assignments on a 24-hour basis.
• Work in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system, both indoors and outdoors.
• Perform physical activities including climbing (including ladders), lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping, and handling heavy objects.
• Enter confined spaces while wearing proper PPE such as canister and dust masks, and SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus).

Requirements

• Minimum five (5) years’ experience as a vehicle mechanic, with at least three years in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel engine vehicles, hydraulic systems, and related equipment.
• Valid New Jersey driver's license with a minimum CDL Class B endorsement (Class A preferred).
• High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required.
• Advanced training from an accredited technical or trade school preferred but not required.
• Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification preferred but not required.
• Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay

The expected base pay range for this position is $88,507 to $110,599. The specific salary offered may be influenced by the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, education, training, and formal credentials.
