Fleet Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain gas and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and safety checks.
• Repair engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, fuel systems, and suspension components.
• Utilize computerized diagnostic tools to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
• Perform welding, fabrication, tire repair, and field service work as needed.
• Maintain repair records, order parts, and manage shop inventory.
• Cook up fleet maintenance schedules and support county departments.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of specialized course work providing technical training in automotive and/or heavy maintenance and repair and computerized diagnostics.
• Four (4) years of experience repairing gas and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
• Preferred skills and experience in: Light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicle repair; Diesel engine diagnostics and repair; Hydraulic, electrical, and air brake systems; Automotive air conditioning systems; Welding and fabrication; Computerized diagnostic tools and testing equipment; Preventive maintenance program management.
• Utah Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) not required but preferred.

Additional Requirements

• Must obtain a State Safety Inspection Certificate within 90 days of hire.
• Personal cell phone required.
