Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain gas and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and safety checks.
- Repair engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, fuel systems, and suspension components.
- Utilize computerized diagnostic tools to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
- Perform welding, fabrication, tire repair, and field service work as needed.
- Maintain repair records, order parts, and manage shop inventory.
- Cook up fleet maintenance schedules and support county departments.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of specialized course work providing technical training in automotive and/or heavy maintenance and repair and computerized diagnostics.
- Four (4) years of experience repairing gas and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
- Preferred skills and experience in: Light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicle repair; Diesel engine diagnostics and repair; Hydraulic, electrical, and air brake systems; Automotive air conditioning systems; Welding and fabrication; Computerized diagnostic tools and testing equipment; Preventive maintenance program management.
- Utah Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) not required but preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Must obtain a State Safety Inspection Certificate within 90 days of hire.
