Fleet Mechanic
Mission Linen is a family-owned, privately held company and a leading provider of products, services, and supplies to hospitality, medical, and industrial businesses. Founded in 1930 and headquartered in Santa Barbara, the company operates across five western states.
About the role
The Fleet Mechanic performs preventative and corrective maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment, including gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and air brakes.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, evaluate, and repair all systems on commercial vehicles up to full engine, transmission, and driveline replacements.
- Ensure all vehicles meet operational and safety standards.
- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
- Operate all tools and mechanisms associated with automotive repair.
- Evaluate and recommend alternative methods for vehicle preventive maintenance to ensure the most effective and efficient return on investment.
- Follow an effective preventive maintenance program for company vehicles.
Experience in electrical and computer-controlled vehicle systems is preferred. Diesel and Ford product experience is helpful but not necessary.
Requirements
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented shop setting.
- Prior auto shop experience or trade school is preferred.
- Clean DMV record.
Pay
Base salary: $25 - $36 an hour. Starting pay is based on education, experience, other qualifications, and location of assignment. Overtime is available.
Schedule
Four 10-hour shifts per week, Tuesday through Friday.
