Fleet Mechanic

About the role

Ensure that all vehicles and equipment in the fleet are operating efficiently and safely by conducting regular inspections and preventive maintenance. This role requires an in-depth knowledge of automotive systems and the ability to efficiently resolve issues to minimize downtime, including both diesel and small engine repair.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and replacement of worn or damaged parts
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues in engines, transmissions, suspension systems, and electrical systems
• Conduct Virginia state inspections and ensure all vehicles meet local, state, and federal regulations for safety and maintenance
• Accurately log all maintenance and repair activities and maintain inventory records of parts and supplies
• Compile and present reports on the fleet's maintenance status and issues for planning and budgeting purposes
• Oversee parts and tools inventory, monitor levels, and reorder supplies as necessary
• Create detailed invoices for work performed, process payments, and maintain organized transaction records

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (Associate's degree or certification in automotive technology preferred)
• 2-5 years automotive experience
• Virginia State Inspection License
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
