Fleet Mechanic

The City of Kodiak is recruiting for a full-time Fleet Mechanic in the Public Works Department. The Department is looking for an experienced team player that has a desire to be a part of a progressive Public Works Department working hard to serve the needs of our community. Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of technical maintenance duties involved in performing minor and major repairs and maintaining a variety of mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic systems on light and heavy gasoline and diesel vehicles, trucks, and equipment; inspects, diagnoses, overhauls, repairs, and adjusts engines and related vehicle systems and components; services and performs preventive maintenance duties on a variety of vehicles and equipment; conducts safety inspections; and maintains a variety of records and reports. The City of Kodiak owns and operates a wide range of vehicles and equipment. The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for the efficient delivery of a variety of technical duties in repair, maintenance, and record keeping on vehicles and equipment. The Fleet Mechanic must perform these duties in a manner that reflects positively on the City and the Department.
