About the Role
Transco Lines Inc (TLI Trucking) is a fast-growing company offering benefits including PTO. We are seeking an experienced Driver Manager to join our team in North Little Rock, Arkansas or Russellville, Arkansas.
Summary
Serve as driver's supervisor/representative in Operations. Manage drivers performance in identified categories and be primary communication link to drivers. Work to achieve optimum driver and customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Sole communications link to driver, including but not limited to: load information, advances, purchase orders, maintenance coordination, performance counseling, and dissemination of general company news and information
- Responsible for assigned full board of tractors and drivers, including effective management for optimum performance in the following categories:
- Ensuring data entry is correct at all times; coding errors on service failures need to be minimal
- Responsible for 97% data entry accuracy
- Ensure driver turnover stays in the ideal range; preventable turnover should never exceed 115%
- Utilization overall should be 310-326 MPU (may be adjusted for dedicated freight to fit specific business unit expectations)
- On-time Service – service failures should be minimal; communicate customer expectations to drivers
- Overall safety – Hours of service, unsafe driving, and overall CSA scores affect bonus potential
- Make sure drivers are current on preventative maintenance on their trucks
- Update drivers on road conditions and restrictions as communicated by the Safety Department
- Communicate to HR in a timely manner on drivers' medical conditions or attendance issues
- Handle driver complaints and ensure complaints are escalated to the appropriate person or department and handled in a timely manner
- Work with Load Planners and other Fleet Managers to plan future workload
- Work with Service and Breakdown departments to adequately maintain equipment and meet service schedules
- Think strategically and plan ahead of rapidly changing situations while maintaining a positive team-oriented attitude
- Stay well organized and engaged with team members
- Maintain a positive attitude with co-workers and supervisor, exercising the speed of trust when issues arise
Qualifications
- 2-year degree in related field preferred
- 3 years experience in transportation preferred
- Demonstrates decision-making ability with little supervision
- Intermediate user ability for Microsoft Excel
Education and Experience
Associate Degree or 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Computer Skills
Knowledge of TMW Database software, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
