Fleet Maintenance Technician

About the role

Dynalectric Company San Diego is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician to perform fleet inspections, basic and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, shuttling, fueling, and vehicle upfitting. This role collaborates with warehouse personnel, company management, and outside vendors to ensure efficient and thorough job performance.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic routine inspections and diagnostics, including brake inspections, tire inspections, fluid level checks, electrical testing, and engine diagnostic scanning.
• Conduct basic maintenance operations such as oil changes, 100k mile service, brake repairs, electrical repairs, battery replacements, tune-ups, and transmission services.
• Diagnose and repair small gasoline engines, including generators, compressors, and forklifts.
• Shuttle vehicles to and from outside repair shops and assigned drivers.
• Build and upfit new fleet vehicles, including installing tool boxes, inverters, and alarm systems.
• Accurately install and remove vehicle logos and decals.
• Prepare vehicles for turnover or reassignment.
• Track and report parts used; maintain required inventory of stocked parts.
• Inspect trucks for defects before and after trips and submit reports indicating truck condition.
• Assist workers in unloading and loading trucks when required.
• Maintain inventory records.
• Work a 40-hour work week with occasional overtime.
• Follow all traffic laws, represent the company positively, and ensure regular attendance.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Required to enroll with the union.
• Able to pass a drug screen.
• Able to learn and operate company’s tools and handle materials.

Qualifications

• One year of on-the-job experience in the automotive repair industry.
• One year of automotive classes or technical school, or equivalent experience.
• Mandatory clean driving record.
• Strong mechanical understanding of vehicle maintenance operations and OBD2 systems.
• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of employees, customers, unions, government agencies, vendors, and suppliers.

Physical Demands

The employee will be required to commute to field locations and project sites and navigate around job site locations. The role involves exposure to physical demands such as:

• Working outdoors in wet/humid conditions, dust, fumes, or airborne particles.
• Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extended sunlight, cold, heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
• Moderate to loud noise levels in the warehouse.

Pay

Compensation range: $25.00 - $30.00/hour.
