Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support maintenance technicians across multiple skill levels to ensure repairs and maintenance are completed safely and efficiently.
- Cook up and schedule maintenance work to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
- Monitor shop performance and recommend process improvements where appropriate.
- Lead daily shop meetings, inspections, coaching, training, and performance management activities.
- Support hiring, evaluations, corrective actions, and employee development in partnership with management and HR.
- Ensure all repairs and outside vendor work comply with company standards and applicable DOT, OSHA, federal, and state regulations.
- Conduct quality control inspections and oversee diagnostic troubleshooting on complex repair issues.
- Manage inventory, parts purchasing, and maintenance-related expenses within budget guidelines.
- Maintain working knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, HVAC systems, brakes, suspension, and related heavy equipment systems.
- Oversee administrative responsibilities including payroll support, maintenance documentation, budgeting, and maintenance software updates.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- ASE certifications, including diesel engine, brakes, suspension/steering, electrical/electronic systems, and HVAC, are preferred.
- An ASE Master Certification is preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of heavy equipment or fleet maintenance experience is required.
- Minimum 1+ year of supervisory or lead technician experience is required.
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and general workplace safety regulations is required.
