About the role
The Fleet & Equipment Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring all company vehicles, landscaping machinery, and small engines are in optimal working condition. This position involves diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure safety and reliability in daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and perform routine maintenance on a wide range of equipment including small engines, diesel trucks, trailers, and landscape machinery.
- Conduct repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and longevity.
- Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and work orders for accurate troubleshooting and repair.
- Test and repair small engine hand tools such as mowers, string trimmers, backpack blowers, augers, and other power tools.
- Perform oil changes, track repairs, and handle miscellaneous repairs as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, keeping tools and equipment in excellent condition.
- Manage parts inventory, order necessary supplies, and liaise with suppliers for timely procurement.
- Use maintenance software to document repairs, track work progress, and maintain accurate service records.
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies diligently, fostering a safety-conscious work culture.
- Support staff training on equipment maintenance, safety procedures, and proper use.
Requirements
- Experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites freely.
- Capable of lifting 50+ lbs and working in strenuous physical environments.
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
