FLEET AND FACILITIES SUPERVISOR

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Responsible for planning, personnel development, and day-to-day activities of the Facilities Maintenance and Fleet Division of Public Works.
  • Aid in developing, implementing, and managing operations and maintenance projects/programs.
  • Provide input to assist with budget requests and recommendations annually.
  • Supervise, make recommendations, and conduct inspections of projects.
  • Resolve issues by making minor changes related to division operations.
  • Conduct regular project meetings with the appropriate parties and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Respond to concerned customers both internal and external as they relate to projects, general concerns, or questions.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, with contractors, public and City staff members.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate full-time staff; assess employees’ performance and prepare performance evaluations; counsel and interview employees, resolve informal complaints and grievances, and take necessary disciplinary action in accordance with City policies.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Typical Qualifications

  • Broad knowledge of office related functions such as Microsoft Office, work order software, asset management software, etc.
  • 5 years of related fleet and facilities experience and/or training, 2 years of which is in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Must possess a CDL within 12 months of hire.
  • Must obtain CJIS certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and MVR check.
  • Any additional training as requested by department head or designee.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

  • Intermediate: Presentation/PowerPoint, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing
  • Basic: Accounting, Alphanumeric Data Entry, Contact Management, Database, Human Resources Systems, Payroll Systems

ENVIRONMENTAL /WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Outside working environment, wherein there are disagreeable working conditions part of the time.
  • Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, wet or humid conditions, risk of electrical shock.
  • Risk of noise levels in the work environment being moderate.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

  • Moderate diversity, moderately physical work environment.
  • Regularly required to talk or hear, taste or smell; and frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms; occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds; regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
