Job Summary

The Flatbed Solutions Specialist will serve as an integral piece of Cornerstone’s brokerage division. This is an ideal opportunity for candidates with previous brokerage sales experience, especially in flatbed/open deck and specialized equipment markets. The role combines inside/outside sales (70/30) and requires the ability to thrive in a cradle to grave role as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop account relationships with contacts at multiple levels within customer organizations via calling and face-to-face visits.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to help drive new business and grow current business.
  • Develop carrier relationships and assist in a cradle to grave role as needed.
  • Consistently be on top of market opportunities, customer needs, and emerging trends.
  • Identify opportunities to further penetrate accounts by selling a large service portfolio.
  • Design solutions and help customers solve their supply challenges through face-to-face interaction with accounts.
  • Prepare pricing solutions, quote RFP's, spot quotes, etc. effectively.
  • Identify issues, seek input from others to determine best course of action, and implement solutions.
  • Identify and sell both transactional and contractual pricing models.
  • Help oversee day-to-day flatbed operations ensuring top quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Work regularly with pricing and operations departments.
  • Manage customer expectations through the creation and utilization of account metrics.
  • Promote and display Cornerstone’s Core Values: Integrity, Honesty, Respect, Loyalty, Never Satisfied.

Minimum Knowledge, Abilities, And Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Transportation, Logistics or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of Freight Brokerage sales experience, or working for a 3PL or asset-based logistics provider.
  • Possess an entrepreneurial attitude, competitive spirit, and leadership qualities.
  • Strong negotiation skills (Carrier, Customer and Margin Integrity).
  • Strong industry knowledge, operational expertise.
  • Able to work independently and as a team.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess a strong sense of urgency and time management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
