About the role
This position will be located at NASA’s White Sands Test Facility in Las Cruces, NM supporting the Materials and Components Laboratory's Flammability group.
Responsibilities
- Conducts material flammability testing per NASA-STD-6001, or non-standard conditions, in gaseous oxygen environments.
- Testing could involve a variety of test methods, temperatures, pressures, and test configurations.
- Preparation of detailed work instruction documents, including direction and oversight for mechanical technicians in a union environment.
- Management of pressure systems to ASME and NASA site specific requirements.
- Perform assigned project management responsibilities to maintain projects within budget and schedule.
- Preparation and presentation of informal and formal briefings to the customer and internal management.
Requirements
- An Engineering or Bachelor's degree and 5-15 years of related work experience.
Qualifications
- Oxygen testing experience
- Code application of, ASME, NFPA 2, NFPA 55, other
- Hazard assessment skills
- Modeling experiences (CREO, Solidworks, etc.)
- Basic computational tools (Excel, MathCad, etc.)
- Specialized software (database, research skills, etc.)
- Project skills Management & planning, team building, etc.
- Pressure Vessel/System experience is considered a plus.
