About the role

New Season Treatment Centers is seeking a Telecounselor Associate to join our team. This position reports to the Telecounseling Supervisor and is based in a virtual setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling services via a HIPAA compliant, synchronous video platform to patients within New Season's clinics across the United States.
  • Educate patients in all aspects of treatment, corresponding health issues, and steps to recovery.
  • Maintain a performance standard of 50% of hours worked spent in direct one-on-one patient contact each month.
  • Complete patient telecounseling screening, psychosocials, DAP notes, individualized treatment plans, reassessments, and all other program-related documentation within required timeframes.
  • Work with patients to complete intake, admission, discharge, and transfer paperwork.
  • Document patient progress and complete organization and state-mandated forms in the identified electronic health record and any other required systems.
  • Maintain file compliance in accordance with policy and procedure and complete timely corrections to any documents or files that are found to be out of compliance.
  • Identify and address any clinical or case management needs.
  • Establish and maintain communication with assigned clinic leadership and support staff, responding to all emails within one business day and maintaining a live updated shared calendar for patient scheduling purposes.
  • Report patient abuse, neglect, and exploitation as required.
  • Report patient grievances as required.
  • Coordinate urine drug screens with clinic liaisons and complete any required documentation.
  • Ensure the reading and understanding of the General, program, and state-specific Policy and Procedures Manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with 42 CFR Part 2 (Federal Confidentiality Regulations) and 45 CFR, Parts 160 & 164 (HIPAA).
  • Be responsible for obtaining and maintaining proper licensure and/or certification according to specific state requirements and program needs.
  • Participate in preparation for surveys and inspections conducted by CARF, the State, DEA, Board of Pharmacy, and any other agency site visits as dictated by the state laws or regulations.
  • Participate in all staff meetings and assigned clinic treatment team meetings as scheduled.
  • Participate in both individual and group supervisions as scheduled.
  • Achieve compliance with local, state, federal, and Colonial Management Group, LP rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Act in the best interests of the program and company; honor, support, and protect the proprietary data and rights of the company.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by clinic, region, or corporate leadership.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a Human Services related field and be a current Florida Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern under active supervision with the ability to obtain unrestricted Florida licensure within 2 years of hire.
  • At least 1 year of counseling experience.

Qualifications

  • Master-level knowledge of Substance Abuse and/or Telecounseling Services.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and technological skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, prioritize, and be dependable and reliable.

Skills

  • Finger dexterity for writing, operating calculator, telephone, keyboard, and other office equipment.
  • Talking to communicate with patients and fellow employees.
  • Hearing to communicate with patients and fellow employees.
  • Clear vision at 20 inches or less and distant vision at 20 feet or more.
  • Physical strength for sedentary work, sitting much of the time, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Physical movement such as standing, walking, and occasional bending or reaching.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Ability to operate in an open work area with moderate everyday noise.
  • Ability to perform other duties as required.

Job or State Requirements

The position may be eligible to work remotely. In the remote telecommuting environment, the employee must have the:

  • Ability to operate in a private workspace with a door that closes and locks.
  • Ability to secure all work in a locking drawer or cabinet.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to treatment centers for training.
