About the role

The Pilot in Command (PIC) is designated as the PIC for flights under FAR Part 135, responsible for the safe conduct of assigned flights. The PIC exercises operational control at the Tier 2 level as described in the General Operations Manual and supervises any assigned crew members during flight. Pilots work a rotating schedule of 14 days on duty followed by 14 days off. While on duty, pilots serve a 12-hour shift (extendable to 14 hours under Part 135) and must meet required report times. Shift assignments (day or night) are scheduled monthly by the Base Lead Pilot.

Pay

• Annual salary range: $121,455.26 – $138,806.01
• Annual merit-based increases up to a maximum of $171,704.39
• $15,000 sign-on bonus (after completing training and check ride)
• $40,000 retention bonus (6-month waiting period; 3-year program)
• Up to $5,000 in relocation assistance

Schedule

• 14 days on duty, 14 days off (rotating)
• 12-hour shifts (maximum 14 hours under Part 135)
• Day or night duty periods assigned monthly

Responsibilities

• Comply with duties outlined in AirMed International’s general operating manual
• Ensure aircraft readiness in coordination with AirMed’s global operations center
• Adhere to all applicable FARs and OpSpecs
• Disseminate flight operation information through the operational control structure
• Maintain professional conduct, including environmental sensitivity
• Attend required meetings and training/check-flights outside normal duty shifts
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or Chief Pilot

Requirements

• Must reside in or relocate to Birmingham, AL
• Hold or attain a CE-550B PIC type rating
• Previous medevac and/or cargo experience preferred
• Unrestricted FAA ATP Certificate (or eligibility)
• 3,000 total airplane hours
• 500 airplane multi-engine land hours
• 1,500 PIC airplane hours
• First-Class Medical Certificate (or ability to attain/maintain)
• Valid US Passport

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent

Working Conditions

• Work in outside weather conditions
• Night, day, and overnight shifts as assigned
• Participate in de-icing, towing, hangar maneuvers, and pre-flight preparations
• Travel required for training or maintenance assignments

Physical Demands

• Stand, walk, climb, bend, balance, sit, crouch, kneel, or crawl for extended periods
• Transport self to/from work
• Assist with loading patients; lift/move up to 150 pounds cumulatively with assistance
• Vision requirements: close, distant, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
