This role sits within the Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) Quantitative Product Research team at FTSE Russell (LSEG), reporting directly to the Head of FICC Quantitative Research.

About the role

The Fixed Income Quantitative Specialist will research and develop new systematic and thematic indexes to expand FTSE’s existing family of fixed income indices, catering to the needs of global sales and client groups. The role involves supporting client engagement programs, deepening relationships with ETF clients, designing and implementing backtests, leading quantitative fixed income index research, contributing to the FICC research agenda, and creating content around product research.

This is an opportunity for a candidate with strong technical skills and product interest to join a dynamic team with client engagement responsibilities across FTSE Russell’s fixed income benchmark products. The role requires collaboration with research, sales, marketing, technology, governance, and risk teams to drive cross-team initiatives and facilitate a coordinated approach to product direction and client feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Support the global FICC Product and Research agenda, focusing on new index research, simulations, backtesting analysis, and index prototypes.
  • Engage proactively with key client segments to educate on FTSE’s approach, support product adoption, and develop client-specific strategies.
  • Contribute to research and analysis for white papers and studies in systematic fixed income, such as the use of fixed income factors.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to stakeholders, leveraging deep product knowledge to enhance current offerings.
  • Establish a client feedback loop to inform product strategies and create a differentiated, innovative, and best-in-class product portfolio.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, research, and product management teams to support the development and launch of fixed income, currency, and commodities benchmark products.
  • Develop and publish product documentation, client communications, and internal training materials to support product strategies and client adoption.
  • Contribute to the benchmark index product development process, including design, backtesting, operational robustness, and client engagement programs.
  • Support global fixed income, currency, and commodities product strategies to drive ETF client adoption and AUM-based revenues.
  • Collaborate on webinars and digital marketing activities to achieve strategic goals.
  • Manage multiple projects to enhance the existing product portfolio and ensure continuous development of high-quality, innovative products.
  • Develop a quantitative product strategy for the region and contribute to the global strategy.
  • Foster strong collaboration between Research, Sales, Marketing, and Product Management teams.
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for collaboration.
  • Develop a deep understanding of index management, operational, technical, and system requirements to inform the product roadmap.
  • Encourage the use of research across client segments and communicate client segment assessments to inform strategy.
  • Facilitate a client feedback loop to guide the product development agenda and ensure a pipeline of high-quality products.

Requirements

  • Experience in financial data engineering, quantitative research, mathematics, financial modeling, or investment markets.
  • Market knowledge of fixed income, portfolio construction, analytics, and an understanding of their utility to end users.
  • Experience developing fixed income benchmark products, including portfolio construction, idea conception, test parameter setup, backtesting, benchmark creation, and strategy formulation.
  • Understanding of the investment process and experience engaging with asset owners, investment consultants, and asset managers.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across functional teams to deliver results.

  • Self-motivated and team-oriented.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in a quantitative field (e.g., Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science) or equivalent professional qualifications.

Pay

The anticipated base salary for this position is $112,100 - $186,900, with variations by geographic location. The role is also eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan (bonus) commensurate with role level and career stage.
