About the Role

Portfolio Management in the Treasury Division of the Alaska Department of Revenue manages over $59 billion in investments for the State’s retirement systems and other accounts. The team directly invests in fixed income, public equity, and alternative investments including private equity, private credit, and real assets. This role supports portfolio managers in analysis, research, and reporting, with opportunities to grow into direct investment and portfolio management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Investable Cash Calculation and Cash Flow Forecast
    • Determine daily investable cash by compiling and reconciling cash flow information.
    • Verify collateral information and sufficiency for REPO transactions.
    • Transmit daily cash investment information with approved counterparties.
    • Forecast and incorporate new cash flow information to track cash movements for fixed income funds.
    • Generate and distribute internal reports to end users.
  • Trade Processing and Settlement
    • Verify and transmit trade information and monitor pending trades.
    • Track and resolve settlement issues with the custodian bank and trading counterparties.
    • Draft wire instructions and compile supporting documents.
    • Maintain counterparty delivery instructions and appropriate contact information.
  • Portfolio Management and Monitoring
    • Provide counterparties with portfolio holdings updates and compliance documentation.
    • Collaborate with middle office to improve operational efficiency.
    • Adjust portfolio holdings in response to corporate actions.
    • Analyze and catalog investment procedures and documentation.
    • Generate monthly credit position exposures relative to the index.
    • Assist in monitoring portfolios for compliance with strategy and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • High level of critical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Team orientation with strong communication skills.
  • Self-starter and inquisitive with a desire to independently research and develop ideas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with fixed income securities and investment.
  • Progress towards an advanced professional designation (e.g., CFA, CPA).
