Fixed Income - Fundamental Research Group (High Yield)
About the role
We are seeking a Fundamental Research Group (FRG) Associate to join our team. This role offers a dynamic environment where you can contribute to investment decisions and collaborate with experienced professionals.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Fixed Income Investment Professionals and peers to deliver valuable insights and conduct fundamental research.
- Conduct deep fundamental research on companies and related industries, financial modeling, and analyze capital structures.
- Monitor holdings and facilitate meetings with management teams, sell-side firms, and industry specialists.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive charts and visualizations to support credit analysis and communicate investment insights effectively.
- Collaborate in the high yield corporate credit investment process and work on projects with increasing complexity.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of experience in credit research, preferably in high yield corporate credit.
- Strong financial modeling and fundamental credit analysis skills, including experience with sell-side firms and industry consultants.
- Proficiency with research tools, trade publications, online sources, regulatory filings, and the ability to interpret this information to generate insightful analysis.
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, STEM, or a relevant field of study.
- Familiarity with programming languages (Python, SQL, R), data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI), and data platforms (Amazon S3, Snowflake, Databricks) is a plus.

- Passionate about a career in credit research with a strong interest in high-yield corporate credit investing.
- Desire to develop bottom-up fundamental credit research skills working in partnership with experienced investment professionals.
- Ability to ask good questions, bounce ideas off others, and proactively share your perspective.
- An inquisitive mind with intellectual curiosity and analytical skills in areas of high complexity surrounding financial markets and industry trends.
- Sound judgment in resolving conceptually complex matters.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Available for occasional travel on research trips to meet with company management teams and investment professionals.

Pay
Southern California Base Salary Range: $141,648 - $226,637
