About the role

Guided by Safety. Focused on Communities. Powered by Care. This is a non-exempt position with a pay rate of $23.00 - $26.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Assists crew leader in construction, reconstruction, and maintenance work
• Assists equipment operators by swamping, hand digging, and locating underground obstructions
• Works with specialized equipment including fusion machines, jackhammers, rotary drills, power actuated fasteners, and other industry tools
• Signals equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials
• Works safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers, and dump trucks
• Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards
• Performs plastic pipe fusion including socket, butt, mechanical, saddle, and electro-fusion
• Taps and stops plastic and steel gas fittings
• Performs cathodic protection work including installation of anodes, test leads, and pipe to soil measurements
• Loads and unloads materials, tools, and equipment onto and from trucks by hand
• Installs gas meters, regulators, piping, and pipe fitting work with black iron pipe
• Repairs gas leaks including above ground meter sets and piping and below ground steel and plastic
• Keeps legible, hand-written, accurate records including daily work logs and installation records
• Performs all Laborer essential duties and responsibilities

Requirements

• One (1+) plus years experience working with underground utilities is required
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis
• Fitter certification is required
• Possession of a valid Driver's License is required
• Candidates must pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, a Background check, and a pre-employment drug screen
