Fitness Specialist - Welliot Rivers Edge Gym - Full Time
About the role
Elliot Fitness Services consists of 3 centers that include employee and community gym membership, group exercise classes, geriatric specific programming and personal training. We foster a focus of fun and education in our offerings. In addition to promoting overall wellness, our team also specializes in medical fitness programming to meet the needs of our health system patients.
Responsibilities
- Assists clients with educational needs
- Performs personal training sessions
- Teach classes and create fitness programs
- Works with staff, outside clients, and other department programs such as senior fitness programs
- Prepares health and fitness articles for the monthly newsletter publication
- Plans, implements, monitors, conducts, and evaluates exercise portion of patient education programs based on individual exercise prescriptions
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and all levels of hospital staff as well as related personnel
- Exercises creativity in group and individual exercise program design
- Assists Director with marketing
- Assists Director with evaluations, reporting, data collection, statistics, and reports
- Assists Director with fitness workshops and speaking arrangements to represent Elliot Hospital
Requirements
- Associate degree in Exercise Science, Health Education or a closely related field; OR equivalent experience required
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Basic Cardiac Life Support required (or must be obtained within 60-days of employment)
- Prior experience working in a gym setting, providing group exercise classes, or providing fitness/exercise programs for seniors preferred
- Group exercise certification preferred
Qualifications
Education and experience needs include an associate degree in Exercise Science, Health Education or a closely related field; OR equivalent experience required. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Educational preparation in Basic Cardiac Life Support is required (or must be obtained within 60-days of employment).
