About the Role
The Fitness Manager is a sales-driven leader passionate about helping members achieve their health and wellness goals. Reporting to the District Fitness Manager, you will work on the club floor, build member relationships, sell training packages, and develop a high-performing team of personal trainers. This role requires a passion for fitness, a drive for success, and a commitment to delivering results.
Responsibilities
- Achieve sales targets month-over-month, driving membership growth and ensuring the team meets or exceeds goals for new personal training agreements, client retention, and revenue generation.
- Collaborate with the membership sales team to support new member onboarding, driving sales initiatives, and ensuring a smooth transition into the club experience.
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise staff, including Personal Training Managers, Assistant Fitness Managers, and Personal Trainers.
- Manage the payroll process for Assistant Fitness Managers and personal trainers to ensure accurate and timely payments.
- Communicate goals, expectations, and procedures to department leaders and staff, ensuring clarity on roles and responsibilities.
- Ensure all fitness staff maintain appropriate certifications (e.g., CPR, First Aid, personal trainer certifications).
- Provide constructive feedback to staff on performance, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.
- Deliver high-quality customer service by addressing member concerns, managing inquiries, and resolving issues promptly.
- Engage with members in a friendly and approachable manner, actively listening to their needs and providing helpful responses.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintain certifications, and implement safety protocols.
- Supervise facility maintenance and cleanliness, including equipment, locker rooms, and common areas.
- In emergencies, communicate calmly with staff and members, providing instructions to ensure safety and well-being.
Requirements
- 2 years of management experience; fitness/personal training management is a plus.
- 3-4 years of customer service experience.
- Personal Training sales experience is highly preferred.
- Prior experience or strong interest in the fitness industry.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with employees, management, and vendors.
- Excellent relationship-building and influencing skills across all levels and functions.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Must pass a background check.
- CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Valid personal trainer certification.
- Previous sales experience required.
- Ability to work in a gym setting, move about club floors, and lift more than 40 lbs.
- Ability to operate company computer systems, including preparing documents and entering data.
Pay
Salary pay range: $60,000 USD. Eligible for additional compensation, including commission, bonus, and post-training increases.
