Fitness Instructor - Strength and Aerobics

Job Summary

The City of Greeley Recreation is seeking certified Group Fitness Instructors to join their team. Responsibilities include teaching various formats like Aqua Fitness, MindBody, Cycling, SilverSneakers, Dance Fitness, Strength, and Aerobic-Style Training. Instructors are responsible for leading safe, effective, and motivating classes.

Minimum Requirements

• Nationally Accredited Group Fitness Certification required: ACE, AFAA, ISSA, NETA, and/or Nationally Recognized Specialty Certification
• Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid Certification required: American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Two (2) years Customer service experience
• Two (2) + years of Group Fitness instruction

Preferred

• Two (2) years of Group Fitness instruction

Essential Functions

• Design and deliver group fitness classes on the weekly schedule
• Keep accurate records of class attendance
• Cross-train in other group fitness formats
• Serve as a role model to staff and participants
• Provide a friendly, inclusive, service-oriented environment
• Provide positive relations and policy education to participants
• Maintain familiarity of Greeley Recreation functions
• Respond to all injuries and assist in immediate emergency procedures
• Keep group fitness studios and closet areas clean and organized
• Maintain NCCA Group Fitness or specialty certification and CPR/AED/First Aid certifications per industry standards
• Pursue continuing education and advanced understanding of fitness, nutrition, and wellness industry standards

Work Environment And Physical Requirements

• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts
• Occasionally loud noise levels within the recreation facilities
• Workdays can extend from early mornings to late evenings, as well as weekends and holidays
• Variable Hour Position: employees are expected to work less than 30 hours average per week
• Must be able to lift 49 lbs
• Physical effort required including, but not limited to, lifting weights, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, and prolonged standing and walking
