About the Role

The Fitness Desk Receptionist is responsible for delivering a first-class fitness experience by greeting members and guests to ensure their experience is memorable. Operational duties include but are not limited to maintaining a clean and organized fitness center and ensuring a safe environment for all members.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as initial point of contact and communication hub for members, guests and teammates.
  • Monitor the entrance and exit of gym members, ensuring that guests follow the fitness center's rules and regulations (e.g., sign-in, guest policies, equipment usage).
  • Keep front desk and entryway neat, clean, and organized.
  • Engage all members and guests with appropriate greetings and farewells.
  • Know and greet members by name.
  • Always display friendliness and helpfulness to members and guests.
  • Provide assistance to guests inquiring about the facility; providing a guest pass.
  • Complete member and guest check-ins and basic member account inquiries.
  • Provide assistance to guests registering for membership including registration and payment processing.
  • Process paperwork related to memberships, waivers, and releases.
  • Monitor check-ins to identify delinquent accounts, collect balances and update member information.
  • Notify a member of management if member assistance escalation is needed.
  • Answer the telephone promptly with appropriate MCR greeting and re-direct incoming phone calls when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of hotel information including outlet hours and promotions, the local area, and other general product knowledge.
  • Review communication logbook at the start of each shift.
  • Record information regarding member/guest issues, housekeeping, engineering, and pools to shift supervisor/manager.
  • Complete and initial all start-of-shift and end-of-shift checklists and turn them into shift supervisor/manager.
  • Complete opening and closing duties as needed.
  • Co-inspect the courts/facilities daily prior to the start of play and ascertain that all necessary maintenance has been performed.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean facility and equipment, ensuring it's working properly; maintain supply stock.
  • Maintain cleanliness of locker room and wet areas throughout shift.
  • Maintain cleanliness of fitness facility, including wiping down machines (sanitize), emptying trash, dusting, picking debris and trash from the sports courts/grounds, pool area, etc.
  • Enforce all fitness center policies and procedures.
  • Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to management.
  • Report any incidences in a timely manner.
  • Keep inventory of locker room items and order more when inventory gets low.
  • Coordinate stock of towels and cleaning supplies with Housekeeping.
  • Keep inventory of gratis items (such as coffee, snack bars, water, and tea) and order more when inventory gets low.
  • Assist in keeping all fitness storage space clean and organized.
  • Help in the preparation and presentation of all special events.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to fitness facility operations.
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Assist with any other operational duties as requested by management.

Requirements

  • Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively, and to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds at all levels of the organization.
  • A Monday - Sunday schedule that allows availability to work weekdays, holidays, and weekends based on the demands of the hotel.
  • Required to stand for the entire duration of shift.
  • Occasional walking, bending, stooping, reaching and use of hands to handle objects, tools or controls.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Previous experience in Hospitality/Customer Service preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize, identify problems, and seek solutions and follow up and follow through with a variety of tasks.
  • Must be able to abide by the company appearance standards and compliance with the designated uniform.
