About the role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Optometric Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support optometrists in providing high-quality eye care services to patients. You will be responsible for performing preliminary eye function tests, assisting with patient examinations, and ensuring the smooth flow of the clinic's daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist optometrists with patient examinations and procedures.
  • Perform preliminary tests, including visual acuity, pupil function, and intraocular pressure measurements.
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure all equipment is clean and properly maintained.
  • Instruct patients on how to use contact lenses and provide care instructions.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update medical histories.
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient flow to optimize clinic efficiency.
  • Dispense and adjust eyeglasses and contact lenses under the supervision of the optometrist.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
  • Previous experience as an optometric assistant or in a clinical setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment and basic eye anatomy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

Schedule

Full-time position, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday availability as needed. Standard clinic hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
