Tasks
- Data Management Support
- Distribution, reception, and quality control of commercial fisherman’s logbooks.
- Annually distribute logbooks via US mail to permit holders.
- Ensure correct logbook types and proper forms for supplementary data collections.
- Process incoming logbooks: stamp as received, organize forms, and assign schedule numbers.
- Maintain a phone line for permit holders’ questions.
- Respond to permit holder questions or forward to upper level staff.
- Mail wreckfish logbook and dealer reporting forms to permit holders as applicable.
- Data entry of various logbook and dealer reporting forms.
- Validation of various logbook and dealer reporting forms.
- Deliver to the post office and inform Chief, Fisheries Monitoring Branch or designee.
- Pick up mail on designated days, mail must be picked up by 1:00 pm.
- Notify Chief, Fisheries Monitoring Branch or designee upon completion.
- Process incoming logbooks: no more than 46 calendar days from receipt to move to master data.
- Submit status report monthly to Chief, Fisheries Monitoring Branch or designee.
- Monitor incoming calls: responses within 4 business days.
- Submit status report monthly to Chief, Fisheries Monitoring Branch or designee.
- Distribute Wreckfish logbooks and dealer reporting forms to permit holders.
- Mailings must be completed by March 20th.
- Submit written report to Chief, Fisheries Monitoring Branch or designee upon completion.
- Data entry of Wreckfish logbooks and dealer reporting forms.
- Complete by January 31st of the following year.
- Submit written report to Chief, Fisheries Monitoring Branch or designee upon completion.
- Participate in SEFSC-sponsored or participating outreach events.
- Explain logbook program goals and methods to the public.
- Deliver all materials such as presentations, handouts, lesson plans, etc. for approval 5 days prior to public presentation to the Chief, Fisheries Monitoring Branch or designee.
- BS Degree in Marine Science or a related field of study OR three (3) years of relevant experience.
- Computer literate and experienced with common word processing, database, statistical, and graphics programs.
- Experience collecting catch and effort information from commercial fishers.

Pay
Salary range is $30 – $45 per hour, dependent upon experience.
