About the role
As a Fiscal Analyst, this position supports the agency’s mission by providing professional and innovative financial solutions, promoting fiscal responsibility, and ensuring accountability to DCYF employees and stakeholders. This position serves as a Principal Assistant to the Accounting Manager by being the primary financial analyst for the operations team within the Accounting unit. This position ensures proper accounting techniques and controls are used in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the accounting staff involved in agency purchasing activities.
- Determine work procedures and manage work schedules to ensure business needs are met.
- Conduct performance evaluations and develop performance measures and standards.
- Advise, consult, and mentor staff on work assignments.
- Update management on state legislation and regulations pertaining to fiscal matters.
- Review general ledger balances and provide expert guidance.
- Analyze and reconcile financial data to prepare assigned state financial disclosure forms.
- Ensure effective communication with internal and external staff to facilitate adherence to policies and procedures.
- Review financial data or documentation to determine amounts owed to or by the agency.
- Submit invoices to other agencies within the terms and conditions of signed agreements.
- Process payments to other agencies within the terms and conditions of signed agreements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or finance related field AND three (3) years of relevant professional experience
- OR equivalent education/experience (seven years total).
Knowledge of
- Supervisory principles, practices, and office administration.
- Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as accounting policies and procedures.
- State policies and laws, i.e., State Administrative and Accounting Manual (SAAM), Revised Code of Washington (RCW), and the Washington Administrative Code (WAC).

- Effective communications and interpersonal relations.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications
- At least five years of experience operating in Office of Financial Management's Statewide Financial systems.

- Demonstrates an ability to build effective relationships and partnerships with a wide variety of individuals, both inside and outside the agency.
- Experience may be gained concurrently.
Pay
$72,900.00 – $98,064.00 Annually
