Responsibilities

• Perform activities and tasks associated with final processing of rocket motors and components, motor disassembly, motor handling, and shipping processes in Finishing Building 8.
• Safely and efficiently perform critically detailed and meticulous hands-on work while meeting established timelines and costs.
• Operate as part of a critical moves team in a safe and efficient manner.
• Manufacture products with tight tolerances, including cork application, cork potting, painting, adhesive applications, and installing precision RTV beads.
• Safely operate hand tools, powered tools, tooling, powered equipment, lifting equipment, overhead cranes, and other equipment utilized in the area.
• Lift objects up to 50 pounds individually.
• Read, interpret, and accurately follow procedures, standard work instructions, engineering drawings, and specifications.
• Certify and sustain all Quality Manufacturing-to-Inspect (MTI) requirements associated with the area.
• Perform basic math calculations and use precision measuring and inspection instruments (e.g., OD/ID micrometers, beveled protractors, electronic coating thickness gauges, ohm meters, calipers, depth micrometers).
• Complete and sustain proficiencies in all required training, including skill-based training.
• Function effectively under close scrutiny in a high-visibility, customer-focused area.
• Conduct and/or lead the training of new and lower classification operators through on-the-job coaching and mentoring.
• Ensure trainees and junior employees follow procedures.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, including customers, leadership, coworkers, and support team members.
• Engage in and lead or promote PES improvement activities, process/procedure improvements, standard work instructions, and global improvement of Operations.
• Advocate for and actively participate in safety culture initiatives (e.g., SIS activities, hazard abatements, OP-E, Take Two).
• Demonstrate initiative to become knowledgeable and proficient in all area processes and support all levels of hands-on operations.
• Guide and positively influence coworkers to enhance safety, quality, cost, and scheduling of their team.
• Assist leadership in making job assignments and achieving performance standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

• Ability to work shift work, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
• U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
• Bids shall be awarded to the senior qualified employee based on ability to perform the work, essential job functions, specific job experience, past performance, and safe workmanship. If insufficient bids are received, the position will be filled in accordance with other provisions of the union contract.
• Upon successful bid award, the employee will be restricted from bidding in accordance with the current union contract.
