Job Summary

We are seeking a First Asst Tech to join our team and ensure high quality, patient centered care during operative and invasive procedures.

Qualifications

  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) Certification.
  • Surgical Technologist Certificate (CST) and Certified Surgical Technologist First Assist (CSFA) and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or equivalent required.
  • Must maintain required education and certification.
  • Completion of surgical technologist course preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) Years of experience required, must have 200 verified patients during the past 12 months, or demonstrated completion of training within the past 12 months.

About the Role

Deliver high quality, patient centered care as you assist staff during operative and invasive procedures. Ensure the operating room is adequately prepared for procedures and act as a preceptor for other techs as needed. Participate in safety initiatives to ensure correct surgery inpatient identification, and verification of the procedure to be performed within the OR when the patient is present and prior to the surgical prep. Rely on previous experience to anticipate and meet the needs of the surgeon. Count all sponges, needles and instruments with the circulating RN on all surgical procedures done in the Operating Room following facility policies and procedures. Follow patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene, use of universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to isolation procedures. Assist the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well stocked/organized, and safe patient care environment.
