First Aid Responder (Part-time)
About the Role
This position is central to the missionaries' role to "Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end." The employee is an entry-level support individual who assists the Manager of Missionary Health and Wellness in providing first aid, emergency care, and triage for injured missionaries participating in MTC Gym activities.
Responsibilities
- Reports to a manager in the Operations Department.
- Examines missionaries and treats injuries within the scope of training; refers patients to appropriate practitioners when necessary.
- Provides standard first aid treatment and emergency care for injuries sustained during Gym activities, including cleaning injured areas and applying antiseptic, salves, ointments, or bandages.
- Maintains compliance with OSHA’s bloodborne pathogen standards during treatment.
- Maintains required records and documentation, including a log of injuries.
- Manages inventory of first aid supplies and requests additional supplies as needed.
- Ensures the first aid room remains neat and tidy.
- Performs other related duties as assigned, including some gym instructor responsibilities and temporary duties at the MTC (e.g., assisting with Mission Leadership Seminar).
Requirements
- 0-1 year of experience or education in providing medical treatment or emergency response.
- Successful completion of American Red Cross first aid and CPR courses or equivalent training.
- AED Certified, or ability to complete certification within a specified period after hire.
- Ability to remain calm and tactful in stressful situations.
- Willingness to work with open cuts and other injuries.
- Strong judgment and evaluation skills.
- Ability to show empathy to individuals in stressful health-related situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop successful working relationships with co-workers.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, run, kneel, squat, stoop, push, pull, twist, bend, and perform movements for extended periods. May also require sitting for long periods and using monitors/equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Returned missionary.
- 0-1 years of experience providing medical first aid or emergency treatment.
- 0-1 years of experience on the MTC Gym Staff team.
Schedule
Morning shift: Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM – 10:00 AM.
