What You’ll Do
- Develop and execute comprehensive firmware and embedded system testing strategies.
- Build and maintain robust QA pipelines and automated test frameworks.
- Test and validate connected products, embedded systems, and electromechanical devices.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, and system-level testing to identify critical issues.
- Partner closely with firmware, hardware, and product teams to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Troubleshoot failures, reproduce defects, and support root cause analysis to enhance product stability.
- Analyze test results and develop key quality metrics to measure and report product performance.
- Combine quantitative testing data with qualitative observations to identify strategic opportunities for improvement.
- Help define testing standards, processes, and best practices for emerging products.
- Support hands-on device testing and validation in a dynamic product development environment.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Firmware QA Engineer, Embedded QA Engineer, Hardware Test Engineer, or a similar role focused on product quality.
- Proven experience building and maintaining automated QA pipelines.
- Hands-on experience testing products that combine software and hardware, such as robotics systems, wearable technology, connected devices, IoT products, drones, 3D printers, or other electromechanical systems.
- Strong understanding of firmware validation and embedded system testing practices.
- Experience troubleshooting complex hardware/software integration issues.
- Ability to analyze failures, identify trends, and communicate actionable recommendations effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and a passion for product quality.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field preferred (or equivalent practical experience).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with broader hardware system testing and device validation.
- Background in robotics, mechatronics, consumer electronics, automotive technology, or similar innovative industries.
- Experience creating quality scorecards, testing metrics, or comprehensive validation frameworks.
- Experience working in startup or highly innovative product environments.
- Familiarity with automation scripting and various test development tools.
- Experience collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
