About the role
Torch Technologies is seeking a Firmware Engineer to play a key role in supporting firmware development and validation efforts, providing actionable insights, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This position demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to identify and report vulnerabilities effectively.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed firmware analysis using tools to ensure system integrity and reliability.
- Demonstrable practical experience with FPGA tools & technologies.
- Perform static firmware analysis, design and verification including requirements capture, simulation, code coverage, synthesis, place & route, and timing analysis.
- Identify, document, and report vulnerabilities within firmware systems, providing actionable recommendations for resolution.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure firmware meets performance, functionality, and compliance standards.
- Provide technical support for firmware validation and testing efforts.
- Maintain thorough documentation of firmware analysis processes, findings, and recommendations.
- Stay up to date with emerging firmware analysis techniques and tools, actively suggesting improvements.
Requirements
- US Citizenship.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 2-8 years applicable experience.
- Strong understanding of static firmware analysis, Clock Domain Crossing (CDC), and Reset Domain Crossing (RDC).
- Experience identifying and reporting vulnerabilities within firmware systems.
- Experience in C/C++/Java/Python/VHDL/HTML/Matlab.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with development teams and communicate technical findings clearly.
- Familiarity with industry standards for firmware development and validation.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Proven skills in firmware analysis tools, including Questa and Questa Inspect.
- Experience with high-profile defense or aerospace firmware systems.
- Knowledge of advanced firmware analysis techniques and methodologies.
- Familiarity with risk assessment and mitigation strategies for firmware vulnerabilities.
- Strong documentation skills to maintain detailed records of analysis processes and findings.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
- 20% travel required.
