Strategic Vision and Alignment

You will shape and communicate a strategic vision for modern software engineering. You will provide hands-on leadership across multiple high-impact products, ensuring our solutions are innovative, effective, scalable, reliable, and aligned with business goals.

You will lead from the front to develop and execute a forward-looking technology roadmap, driving simplification, scalability, and efficiency. You will leverage your deep expertise in software engineering—including application and data integration, modern frameworks, and diverse technologies—to guide teams in delivering robust, high-quality solutions.

Advocacy and Technology Roadmap

You will champion the integrated engineering strategy and technology roadmap, ensuring organizational awareness of objectives, KPIs, maturity, and compliance. You will promote a culture of reuse, quality, and speed to maximize outcomes. You will actively engage and energize teams around the engineering vision and its alignment with business and technology goals.

You will craft the technology roadmap and act as a catalyst for change, advocating for the latest technologies and best practices. You will promote a culture of continuous learning and collaboration within the team.

Mastery and Objectives Realization

You will define and drive achievement of engineering KPIs, including system performance, scalability, security, and maintainability. You will maintain and evolve engineering dashboards (planning, code quality, CI/CD, performance, security, operations).

You will contribute hands-on to design and code, mentor engineers, and resolve technical challenges. You will inspire teams to adopt new technologies and best practices, fostering a passion for engineering excellence.

Capability Evolution and Development

You will be an engineering expert, mentor, and developer of full-stack engineering talent in modern practices such as frontend, microservices, cloud-native design, AI/ML/GenAI, data engineering, DevSecOps, and advanced deployment techniques like, Blue-Green, Canary to minimize downtime, enabling A/B testing approaches.

You will lead by example through thought leadership—speaking at conferences, publishing, R&D, or collaborating with academia. You will cultivate a growth mindset and modern engineering behaviors across the team.

You will embrace an iterative and incremental product development approach, favoring action, prioritizing rapid learning, and adaptation over extensive upfront planning. You will apply a leaning-forward approach and empirical methods to navigate complexity, ensuring each iteration delivers value and aligns with customer and business needs.

You will establish and evolve engineering standards, coding practices, and quality benchmarks to ensure robust, secure, and scalable solutions. You will proactively identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring operational excellence and resilience.

You will influence, persuade, and drive decision-making processes. You will communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms. You will craft clear, structured arguments and technical trade-offs, supported by evidence.

Organizational Engagement and Collaboration

You will engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization, from team members to middle management to executives. You will build collaborative and constructive relationships, co-creating and driving momentum and value across multiple organizational levels.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline.
  • An advanced degree (e.g., MS) is preferred but not required.
  • Enterprise experience is the most relevant factor.
  • Excellent software engineering and product architecture/design foundation with deep understanding of Business Context Diagrams (BCD), sequence/activity/state/ER/DFD diagrams, OOP/OOD, data structures, algorithms, code instrumentation, and messaging patterns (e.g., routing, transformation, construction, channel, endpoint, adapter, sequencing).
  • 15+ years of proven experience with programming languages, technologies, and frameworks such as Python, C#, Java, Node.js, Golang, .NET Core, XML/JSON, REST/SOAP/GraphQL, SQL/NoSQL, SSO/MFA, and unit testing frameworks.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with building and scaling highly available, resilient distributed systems using cloud-native integration services on one or more hyper-scalers like Azure, AWS, GCP (e.g., API Gateways, Message Brokers, Queuing Services, Workflow Automation & Orchestration, ETL/ELT, Event Streaming, Real-Time Data Processing, Service Mesh).
  • 7+ years of experience with defining and driving engineering KPIs, implementing engineering maturity models, and driving continuous improvement.
  • 2+ years of experience in building production systems using cloud native Agentic AI services with right observability and operational excellence.
  • Proven ability to lead organizational transformation and drive adoption of modern engineering practices at scale, including cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proven track record of leading, mentoring, and developing diverse engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous learning.
  • Deep understanding of methodologies and tools such as XP, Lean, SAFe, DevSecOps, SRE, ADO, GitHub, SonarQube, CAST, etc., to deliver high-quality products rapidly.
  • Strong understanding of secure by design, privacy, and compliance requirements in enterprise software engineering.
  • Proven experience aligning engineering initiatives with business and customer value, delivering measurable outcomes in agile environments.

Preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to handle diverse situations, complex projects, and changing priorities, behaving with passion, empathy, and care.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $151,400 to $311,000.
