About the role
As a Project Financial Analyst on Deloitte's Engagement Financial Advisor (EFA) team, you will help consulting teams manage the financial health of their projects. This role combines financial analysis, project operations, and stakeholder support to ensure projects stay financially on track throughout the full project lifecycle. You will gain exposure to budgeting, forecasting, reporting, billing, and financial operations in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Responsibilities
- Support one or more engagement teams by managing project financials, reporting, and operational processes
- Partner with project teams to manage budgets, track project financials, forecast revenue and expenses, and ensure projects stay financially on track
- Prepare financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to support engagement leadership decision-making
- Monitor project spending and support billing and collections activities
- Communicate financial updates, insights, and recommendations to internal stakeholders
- Support day-to-day project operations and financial management activities across the project lifecycle
- Help identify financial risks, process issues, and opportunities for improvement
- Use established project management and financial processes to support engagement quality and compliance
- Contribute to team initiatives, knowledge sharing, and process improvement efforts
- Regularly connect with your manager, coach (career advisor), and onboarding advisor to support your professional development
Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
- Intermediate to advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Comfort working with large datasets, financial reporting tools, and detailed analysis
- Interest in consulting operations, project financial management, or business operations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholder groups
- A proactive mindset and willingness to identify opportunities for improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 3 years of relevant experience or Business degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline and 2 years of relevant experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Solid understanding of fundamental accounting and finance principles
- Ability to travel 0-10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
- Ability to work in your local office at a minimum of one day per week
- Must be located within a commutable distance to one of the select locations available for this role
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with a variety of contracting types (e.g., time and materials, fixed price) and billing scenarios
- Experience in a professional services firm
- Experience with MS Suite applications
About the team
The Engagement Financial Advisor team supports Deloitte consulting professionals by helping them manage the financial and operational aspects of client projects. The team works closely with internal stakeholders to support project planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and overall project financial performance. This role offers the opportunity to build skills in financial analysis, project operations, stakeholder management, and consulting business processes while working on large-scale, complex engagements.
Pay
The wage range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors including skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and business needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for geographic differentials. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $66,200 to $121,800. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to program rules, where awards depend on individual and organizational performance.
