Firewatch in Perdue Hill, AL (short term outage)

Graywolf is seeking a Firewatch in Perdue Hill, AL. Per Diem eligible 60-miles from site. Outage Day and Night Shift 7–9 days long. Essential Duties

• Act as Fire Watch, Hole Watch, or Bottle Watch.
• Monitor for fire hazards while work is performed by others.
• Maintain conditions and requirements stated on the safety permit.
• Keep flammable materials away from ignition sources.
• In an emergency, follow protocol on the safety permit and immediately alert others of dangers.
• Call 911 or the emergency alarm number as needed.
• Exercise Stop Work Authority if hazardous conditions are found.
• Maintain constant communication with supervision.
• Be prepared to operate fire extinguishers, hydrants, fixed monitors, and hose carts at any time.
• Remain on the jobsite while work is being completed.
• Identify safety hazards and take corrective action to eliminate or minimize them.
• Perform other job-related duties as requested by supervision.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position; prior experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and accurately with employees and customers.
• Must successfully pass required Confined Space Entry training.
• Must successfully complete all required pre-hire requirements.

Physical/Site Requirements

• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds.
• Move in and around confined and cluttered spaces, and uneven areas.
• Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.
• Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
• Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
• Required PPE includes footwear and prescription safety glasses or eye shields.
