Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and mentor firestop technicians and field crews to ensure safe, productive, and high-quality work.
- Install firestop systems (penetration firestopping, joint firestopping, curtain wall systems, etc.) to meet project specifications and UL systems.
- Interpret blueprints, construction documents, and technical specifications related to firestop installations.
- Identify and select appropriate firestop materials for different substrates and penetrants (e.g., pipes, conduits, ducts, cables).
- Prepare and clean surfaces for application and ensure proper adhesion of firestop products.
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal fire codes and safety regulations.
- Work closely with project managers, inspectors, and other trades to ensure quality installations.
- Document installations, including system types, materials used, and locations for inspection and quality assurance purposes.
- Use tools and equipment safely, including caulking guns, drills, and hand tools.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper handling of firestop materials and tools.
- Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and daily work assignments to maintain project schedules and productivity goals.
- Conduct quality inspections of completed work and ensure compliance with UL systems, project specifications, and customer requirements.
- Communicate project progress, field conditions, material needs, and potential issues to project management.
- Train new technicians on proper installation methods, safety procedures, and company standards.
- Perform tasks at heights such as attics, ladders, scaffolding, and commercial ceilings.
- Enter tight or confined spaces, such as crawl spaces and mechanical rooms.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of firestop installation experience with at least 1 year of crew leadership, foreman, or supervisory experience.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and UL listings.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the U.S. for project assignments.
- Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and maintain productivity in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Must pass a background check and drug screen in accordance with customer requirements.
