About the role
We are seeking a qualified part-time Fireman - Black Seal Low Pressure Preparation instructor for classes taught in Hackensack, New Jersey. Ideal candidates are creative, dynamic teachers with strong interpersonal skills who enjoy working in diverse linguistic and cultural settings and empowering workers through industry skills education.
Responsibilities
- Teach concepts related to boiler operations
- Explain boiler parts and functions
- Review terminology for the State exam
- Provide practice exams to prepare students for the NJ Black Seal Low Pressure Boiler Operator exam
- Guide students and provide feedback on how to fill out paperwork for the DOL exam
- Maintain and submit records of attendance
- Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor
- Participate in relevant professional development activities, as available
Qualifications
- Teaching experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- One of the following licenses: Black Seal, Blue Seal, or Third Class Engineer License
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds
- Ability to use digital platforms for instruction, communication, and recording program data
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
- Record of completed COVID-19 vaccine or confirmed medical/religious exemption
- Compliance with current COVID-19 protocols of the organization
Schedule
- Primary classes: Saturdays, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Additional classes may be available on weekdays, evenings, and weekends

$75 per teaching hour
